To our wonderful visitors and supporters,

Despite the large-scale Christmas Market not going ahead this year, the city of Bath will remain a magical place to visit over the festive season. Bath & North East Somerset Council, Bath BID, Visit West, SouthGate Bath and Milsom Place are working together on the ‘Bath at Christmas’ programme to ensure the city sparkles and attracts visitors this festive season including:

• The independent Bath artisan market in Queen Square
• Traditional Christmas celebrations around the Abbey Quarter
• An illumination trail of the iconic and historic buildings of Bath
• A number of festive stalls in Kingston Parade and Abbey Green
• A Victorian carousel ride outside the Roman Baths
• Street entertainment and carol singing

What are the opening times?

This year, Bath Christmas Market will open its doors from Thursday 25th November until Sunday 19th December. Our opening hours are:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 10am–7pm
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays: 10am–8pm
Sundays: 10am–6pm

When is the best time to visit?

There’s always a wonderful atmosphere at the Christmas Market, but certain times tend to be busier than others. If you want to be in the thick of it, weekends and lunchtimes are busy and bustling with people enjoying the festive atmosphere. If you would prefer a more leisurely experience with plenty of time to browse, we would recommend weekday evenings or mornings.

Do the stallholders accept cash?

Where possible, we would love for you to pay by card or contactless payment methods to help protect our stallholders and other attendees. However, we do appreciate that this is not possible for everyone and therefore many of our stallholders will also be accepting cash.

Where are the nearest cashpoints?

  • NatWest on Stall Street
  • Outside the newsagents on Terrace Walk
  • Inside Marks & Spencer’s food hall
  • Outside Santander on Bath Street
  • Outside HSBC on Milsom Street

Is Bath Christmas Market accessible?

We are committed to ensuring, so far as reasonably possible, that Bath Christmas Market is accessible to everyone wishing to attend.

The main areas of the event site can be accessed via dropped curbs, which are permanent features of the city centre and there will be extra tarmac ramps around the Market. There will also be Mobility Assistants at the Market every day. Visitors with mobility requirements are welcome to ask stallholders or members of staff to ask Event Control to send a Mobility Assistant to aid them during their visit. An accessible toilet facility is also made available.

For those who would prefer to browse the Market at a quieter time, weekday mornings are the best time to visit if you prefer a relaxed experience with plenty of time for exploring. If you have any questions about specific access requirements or considerations, please get in touch.

What measures have you put in place to protect people from Covid-19?

It should go without saying, but the health and safety of our visitors and stallholders is, and always will be, our priority. We are keeping a firm eye on government announcements to ensure that Bath Christmas Market is completely safe for our visitors to enjoy. We have also reduced the number of stalls and have ensured there is plenty of room for social distancing during the event.

How do I get to Bath Christmas Market?

The market is conveniently located right at the heart of Bath, with public transport links close by. All the information about travelling to the Market can be found here.

Do I need a ticket?

Bath Christmas Market is open for anyone to enjoy and for that reason, it is not a ticketed event. Just come on down and soak up the atmosphere!

Can I bring my dog?

Although we don’t prohibit you from bringing your dog, we wouldn’t recommend it. The Market can get busy, especially at weekends, and it may not be a comfortable experience for your dog. So as much as we’d love to see your festive friends, we would recommend leaving them at all.

Where are the toilets?

The toilets are located on Bilbury Lane, just off of Bath Street.

Where is Bath Christmas Market located?

The Market is an outdoor market set in the beautiful Georgian streets in the centre of Bath. It is located close to Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths and Thermae Bath Spa. Click here to see 2019’s Bath Christmas Market Map.

Do you have a lost property point?

If you lose an item during your visit to the Market, please approach a member of security in high-vis to inquire about lost property. If you are no longer at the Market, please email christmas_market@bathnes.gov.uk, and we will check for your item.

Where should I go if I have any questions during my visit to Bath?

During your visit, you will spot the Bath BID Welcome Ambassadors on your travels around the city, who will provide a warm and informed welcome to visitors, acting as human information points and guiding people to their destinations at busy times. The Welcome Ambassadors cover the city centre, and you are welcome to stop them to ask questions. Their distinctive blue jackets, emblazoned with ‘Ask me!’, will help you find them. They have all the information you could possibly need at their fingertips and carry a tablet to look up anything they don’t know.
